Seller agreement
This applies to any shop listing items on Townstyle. Creating a shop means accepting it.
You are the seller
You sell directly to the buyer. Townstyle lists your stock, takes payment on your behalf, and passes you the proceeds — we are not a party to the sale, and we do not take possession of your goods at any point.
You are responsible for the accuracy of every listing: description, condition, photographs, price, and quantity available.
What you may list
Items you own or are authorised to sell, that are legal to sell where you are, and that you can hand over from the pickup address on your shop profile.
Not permitted: counterfeits, stolen goods, firearms and ammunition, controlled substances, prescription items, live animals, recalled products, anything requiring a licence you do not hold, and anything whose sale would breach local law.
Fees and payouts
Listing is free. Townstyle retains 8% of the item total on each completed sale. Delivery fees collected on your behalf are passed to you in full.
Payouts run through Stripe Connect to the bank account you verify, and are released after you complete the handoff. Stripe's own terms apply to your connected account, and Stripe may hold funds where its risk rules require.
Fulfilment obligations
Accept or decline an order promptly, keep the item aside once accepted, and hold it for at least 48 hours after marking it ready. Complete the handoff only when the buyer is physically collecting, using the code they present — the code is the record that the handoff happened.
Keep your stock counts current. Repeatedly selling items you cannot supply is grounds for removal.
Returns, refunds, and chargebacks
Set a returns policy you will honour, and state it in your listings. Handle buyer problems directly and in good faith.
Where a refund is owed, it comes from your proceeds. If a buyer disputes a charge with their bank, the disputed amount and any fee may be recovered from your balance or future payouts. Persistent disputes may lead to suspension.
Tax
You are responsible for your own income and business taxes. Sales tax is calculated and collected at checkout where applicable; you remain responsible for your registrations and filings, and for the accuracy of the tax category of what you list.
Your account and your data
Your shop account is yours to control. Do not share access with anyone you would not trust to see your orders and payouts. You keep ownership of your listing photographs and text, and grant Townstyle a licence to display them for the purpose of running the marketplace.
Buyer details are given to you for fulfilment only. Do not use them for marketing, do not sell them, and do not keep them longer than you need.
Suspension and termination
You can close your shop at any time, once outstanding orders are fulfilled. We may suspend or remove a shop for breaching this agreement, for a pattern of unfulfilled orders, for misrepresenting goods, or where we reasonably suspect fraud. Funds for completed handoffs remain payable to you.
Indemnity
You agree to cover Townstyle against claims arising from the items you sell, including product liability, intellectual property claims, and misdescription. Our liability to you is limited to fees we have retained on your sales in the preceding three months.
You sell, we handle the shopfront and the money. Describe things honestly, keep stock accurate, hold what you have sold, and only complete a handoff with the buyer's code — that code is what protects you if the sale is ever questioned.
