Terms of service

These terms cover using Townstyle as a buyer. If you list items for sale, the seller agreement applies to you as well.

01

What Townstyle is

Townstyle is a marketplace where independent local shops list their own stock. We run the catalog, the search, and the payment split — we do not own, inspect, store, or ship any of the goods. Each item is sold to you by the shop named on the listing, and your contract for that item is with them.

02

Your account

You need an account to buy. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for activity under your account. Give us accurate information, and tell us if your email changes — order codes and receipts go there.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. We can suspend an account that is being used for fraud, abuse of shops, or anything unlawful.

03

Prices, payment, and what we take

Shops set their own prices. The price you see at checkout is what you pay, plus any delivery fee and applicable sales tax shown before you confirm. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

You are charged once. We keep a service fee of 8% of the item total and pass the rest to the shop. A cart spanning several shops is still one charge, split behind the scenes.

04

Pickup and delivery

Most orders are collected in person. Your order screen shows a four-digit code; the shop enters it when they hand the item over. Items are held for 48 hours from the time the shop marks them ready, unless the shop agrees otherwise.

Where local delivery is offered, the shop or their courier delivers it — timing is their estimate, not a guarantee, and you must give an accurate address.

05

If something is wrong

Raise it with the shop first — they know the item and can usually sort it the same day. Requests should reach them within 48 hours of pickup or delivery.

If the shop will not engage, contact us and we will look at the order record. We can refund from funds we hold, and we can remove a shop that repeatedly fails its buyers. We cannot force a shop to accept a return that their own stated policy excludes.

06

Things you agree not to do

Do not buy with the intent to defraud, use another person's payment method, scrape the catalog, attempt to reach accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with how the service runs. Do not use Townstyle to arrange anything illegal.

07

Limits on our responsibility

The goods are the shop's. We do not warrant condition, authenticity, fitness for a purpose, or that a listing is accurate — those are the shop's representations. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected to an order is limited to the amount you paid for it.

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

08

Changes and ending things

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date, and continuing to use Townstyle after that means you accept them. You can stop using the service at any time, and ask us to delete your account — we keep order records as long as tax and dispute rules require.

In plain words

We are the noticeboard and the till, not the shopkeeper. The shop sells you the item, we move the money and keep the record, and if a shop treats buyers badly we remove them.
